How the video is prepared

You paste a video or Shorts link and pick a quality. Your browser sends both to our server. You never log in to YouTube, and we never ask for a password.

Our server hands the link to a paid third-party service that prepares an MP4 with sound, at the best quality the video has up to your choice. This can take a few minutes, depending on the video's length and the quality you pick; we stop waiting after 4 minutes.

The finished file waits on that service, and your browser downloads it through our server, which passes it on unchanged. We add no watermark.

Because each video is paid for, every video needs an email confirmed in this browser. You confirm one before the first video, with a 6-digit code. Once confirmed, later videos in this browser run without asking for 30 days; after that, we ask again. The address joins our email list.

How long does a video take?

This can take a few minutes, depending on the video's length and the quality you pick; we stop waiting after 4 minutes and show an error. A lower quality or a shorter video is more likely to finish in time. Keep the tab open while the video is prepared.

Why does a video fail?

A video can fail when it is private, members-only, age-restricted, blocked in some regions, still streaming, or too long for one job. Now and then the service also fails on a video that should work; trying again later, or at a lower quality, can help. A finished file over 600 MB cannot pass through our server, so for a long video pick a lower quality.

What happens to the link and the file?

Our server sends the link to the paid service, which keeps the MP4 it prepared so your browser can download it; we do not delete it there. Our server logs the request with your IP address, and the email you confirm is kept with the link you pasted. The file passes through our server, and our CDN may keep a copy for up to an hour.
