How the hashtag generator works
Type a few words about your post and the generator treats them as a topic. To read an account instead, type @ and its name, such as @yourbrand, or paste its instagram.com profile link. A name without the @ counts as a topic.
The answer comes from one of three sources, tried in this order. For an account, a third-party data provider reads the captions of up to 20 of its recent posts, and we count the hashtags in them, most used first. For a topic, or an account we could not read, we ask an AI model from OpenAI or Anthropic; for an account it sees the name alone. If the model gives no usable answer within 30 seconds, we pick tags from our own topic lists, which match English words only. The result says which source answered.
Instagram reads at most 5 hashtags on a post or Reel. It set that limit in December 2025, and extra tags are ignored. So the result's main key copies the first five: for an account, its most used tags; for a topic, read the list first and keep the five that describe your post. Copy all takes the whole list.
A topic goes to the AI provider; an account name goes to our data provider, and to the AI provider when its captions give no hashtags. We do not save what you type in our database. How does the Instagram hashtag generator work?
Type a topic or an @account and press Get hashtags. For an account, we count the hashtags in the captions of up to 20 of its recent posts. For a topic, an AI model suggests tags from your words, and our own topic lists answer when the model does not. The result names its source, and one tap copies the tags.
How many hashtags can I use on Instagram?

Where do an account's hashtags come from?
From the captions of up to 20 of its recent posts, read through a third-party data provider. We count each hashtag and list the most used first. Only public accounts can be read. If we cannot read the account, or its captions hold no hashtags, an AI model guesses tags from the account name alone, and the result says so.
Will these hashtags get my post more reach?
We cannot promise that. We do not measure reach or how often a tag is used, and Instagram decides who sees a post. Pick the tags that describe what your post shows.
Why are the hashtags different each time?
An AI model words its answer a little differently each time, our topic lists are shuffled on every run, and an account's tags change as it posts. Ask again to see other ideas.
Is what I type stored or shared?
We do not save it in our database. A topic goes to the AI provider, and an account name goes to our data provider, and to the AI provider when its captions give no hashtags. The request is logged with your IP address.
