What the username checker tells you

Type one name, and the tool asks six sites about it at the same time.

  • Six sites

Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Facebook and Pinterest, checked at the same time. No other sites.

  • Three answers

Available when the site says the page does not exist, Taken when it shows a page, Unknown when it blocks us, fails or takes over 5 seconds.

  • A first look, not a booking

A name can look available and still be reserved or refused by the site. The tool reserves nothing; a taken name links to its profile.

  • No signup, nothing saved

No email and no login. We do not save the names you check; the request is logged with your IP address.

How the username check works

You type a name into this username checker. We drop a leading @ and write it in lowercase; it needs at least 2 characters, using letters, numbers, dots and underscores, and not dots alone. We do not check each site's own length or character rules.

Our server requests the public profile address of that name on all six sites at the same time, for example instagram.com/yourname, so it works as a social media name checker in one search. Each site gets up to 5 seconds. The sites see a request from our server, not from you.

If a site says the page does not exist, the row reads Available. If it shows a page, the row reads Taken; a site that shows our server a login page makes a name read Taken too. If it blocks us, fails or does not answer in time, the row reads Unknown rather than a guess. Confirm on the site before you rely on a row.

Nothing is cached and the names are not saved; the request is logged with your IP address. The tool reserves nothing; a taken name links to that profile. To see an Instagram account's profile picture, use our Instagram profile picture viewer.

What to know about the username checkerUsername checker: questions and answers

Answers written from how the lookup works on our server. If your question is not here, our support page shows how to reach our team.

How do I check if a username is available?

Type the name above and press Check name. This username checker asks six sites about it at the same time, and each row reads Available, Taken or Unknown. Treat the result as a first look and confirm on the site, at signup, before you rely on it.

Which sites do you check?

Six: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Facebook and Pinterest. The tool checks no other site.

How accurate is it?

It is a best-effort check, and we have not measured it site by site. A row reads Available when the site answers that the page does not exist, which can also happen for a name the site has reserved, banned or does not allow. A row reads Taken when the site shows any page, including a login page some sites show our server. Unknown means the site gave no clear answer within 5 seconds.

What do Available, Taken and Unknown mean?

Available: the site said there is no page at that name's address. Taken: the site showed a page there, and the row links to it. Unknown: the site blocked our request, failed, or did not answer within 5 seconds, so we do not guess.

Does Available mean I can register the name?

Not for sure. A name can look available and still be reserved, banned or not allowed by that site's rules, such as its length limit. The site decides when you sign up, and our tool reserves nothing.

Which characters can I use?

Letters, numbers, dots and underscores, not dots alone, at least 2 characters. We drop a leading @ and write the name in lowercase. Hyphens, spaces and other symbols are refused. Each site has its own rules on top of these, which the tool does not check.

What happens to the name I check?

Our server puts it in each site's profile address and requests that page; the sites see a request from our server, not from you. Nothing is cached and we do not save the name. The request is logged with your IP address. There is no email step, and we set no daily limit.
